The 21st century reboot of '80s cult favourite Short Circuit has been rumbling along for a while now, but it finally has a director: Steve Carr.
Carr's last job was Paul Blart: Mall Cop and while it made a lot of money, it wasn't particularly A) funny or b) good. So we can't say this raises our hopes for the quality level of Johnny 5's return to the screen.
At least the script - or one version of it - is from Robot Chicken writer Dan Milano, which will hopefully guarantee some chuckles as the story switches to the former military robot befriending a lonely boy and helping (ugh) his fractured family.
Can it work? You decide...

"Input, major input." I think it should be left alone, i loved the short circuit movies. However i do like a good suprise when a remake does well. I guess this is just another w8 and see.
