For ages, the only news about Valkyrie – in which Tom Cruise plays Colonel Claus Von Stauffenberg, who becomes part of a German plot to assassinate Hitler – has been reports of problems with locations or Tom spruced up in his Nazi best.
But now the first footage from Bryan Singer’s anticipated drama has emerged and… Um, well, while it reeks of quality, with a top notch cast including Kenneth Branagh, Terrence Stamp, Bill Nighy, Tom Wilkinson and Black Book’s Carice van Houten, we can’t help but get pulled out by Cruise’s accent, which seems to flip between sort-of-RADA English and his usual American-flavoured speech.
We’re quite willing to be proved wrong, but take a look for yourself here.
