Terry Crews explains Expendables 2 PG-13 rating

Describes film as “the greatest thing you’ve ever seen”

Last month we brought you news that the forthcoming Expendables sequel would be working within the confines of a PG-13 certificate, after Chuck Norris refused to sign on unless the film was a swear-free zone. Disappointing news then, for fans of the kind of guts and glory actioners the film harks back to.

However, according to Norris’s co-star Terry Crews, the decision to open the film to a wider audience can only be a good thing.

“It's PG-13,” begins Crews. “Do you really think only men 40 and over saw the first one? The kids bought tickets to Eat, Pray, Love and walked right into The Expendables.” Which kind of begs the question, why bother changing the certificate?

In any case, Crews is adamant that the lack of boobs, blood and sweariness won’t detract from the overall experience.

“I get [the concerns]. I really do," he says. "But boobs and blood do not a good movie make. You don't want to go - don't go. I respect it. But you will miss the greatest thing you've ever seen.”

To make sure you treat your eyeballs to the greatest thing they’ve ever seen (and you can take a Terry Crews promise to the bank – the blood bank! Sorry), be sure to buy yourself a ticket when The Expendables 2 opens in August 2012.

Will you bother with a PG-13 Expendables? Tell us, below.

kay...fine. the second one is pg-13, but if there's gonna be another sequel, it BETTER BE a HARD fu****g R-rated. who don't wanna see boobs (not man boobs, though), blood and hear cursing in this type of flicks with iconic action stars, mind you....

The Expendables was supposed to be a throwback to the great violent era of the 80s, where men used by-standing commuters as human shields (and that was just the heroes!) without getting a bolloquing from the nanny-fied cowards who handed in their 'man card' and testicales long ago. When grown ups were allowed to watch grown up movies FOR GROWN UPS. This whole thing stinks of cop out (not the movie, which DOES stink).

This is like telling Michael Bay that he cant use explosions or have helicopters. The whole tone of the film will have shifted. Depending on what they have done already they might have to re-write the dialogue or overhaul some scenes. Damn you Norris, you old git.

I'm absolutely going to watch it I'm just not going to pay money to watch it any more. I don't care what they say the film is simply not going to be as good as it could have been just so they can squeeze a few more dollars out of the box office. The WHOLE POINT of the Expendables was that it was proper hardcore blood and guts action movie throwback and that means not catering to the kiddies!

As much as I love a throw back to the 80's action cheesefest it seems that the action; and occasional swear word is the only drawing quality to a film like this. Loved the first one, I'm with McSerious, if you remove the violence what's the point? And is anyone that fussed about Chuck Norris? anyone who can remember who he really is will be in their 40's anyway, young kids wanna see the Rock, Channing Braindead and Taylor Wolfman. I want to see Jason Statham kick a bloke in the thorax and watch Terry decapitate him with his AA. And I can afford to see it in the cinema, twice, and buy the DVD, and then the re-release when they add more extras. But now I wont. Sorry for the rant.

''Okaaaay. Getting a little scared by all the gun knowledge. *Backs away from keyboard*'' Someone mentioned one gun, which he happens to be holding in that promotional pic. I don't really see how that could be deemed 'scary'. ''Oh its an AK47! *Backs away from keyboard*'' :|

'"The kids bought tickets to Eat, Pray, Love and walked right into The Expendables.” Which kind of begs the question, why bother changing the certificate?' Possibly because the producers of Eat, Pray, Love didn't donate any of the cash they received from those kids buying tickets for their film just to sneak into an Expendables screening to Sly and company? They want that money. I get your point though - those kids wanted to see something full of blood, boobs and swearing. Now that they can legally see it, it's no longer got that thrill, because EX2 won't have anything naughty in it. Sometimes, of course, a PG-13 translates to a 15 over here (and sometimes a 12, I know) so we might be pleasantly surprised.

No. Just no. I'm not going to watch this. The thing that made the first movie fun was that it was a movie for action fans of the 80's. Why should I throw my hard earned money at this when it will not deliver the kind of action and blood from the first one. I love those old AA-12 scenes from Hale Ceaser and Statham's bloody knife slices. I'm not going to watch this until it's on the TV. If they want to make a movie for the children, I'll wait until the my wife, the children, and whole family can get in their jams jams and watch it together at home.

To hell with this PG-13 c**p. PG-13 does not allow blood splatter, proper violence, swearing, nudity, bloody bullet wholes... And what are these movies all about - fudging STORY? Fudge off! There are no quality, high-budget action movies coming out anymore. Expendables was our last hope. And now they took it away form us. JUST *ONE* DAMN FILM! That's all we wanted...

The whole Idea of making The Expendables started from making and old-school very hard and ultra-brutal action movie. Without R-rating it does not work. Because of that the first one made huge money. The EX 2 will fail brutally at the box office if they do not change it to R-rated.

Why are they listening to Chuck Norris how many good films has he made? And why do people always attack Christians every time someone who is Christian says something like this? Stone Cold does not swear in films anymore because of his kids and he made the same demand for the first Expendables. I think Crews is talking big hairy bollocks which action films used to have, now they just bow down to the whiny self righteous pc w****rs who have sex with boys and snort cocaine when they are not destroying potentially good films, hypocritical t***s.

Calling "Expendables 2" the greatest thing you'll ever see is a tall order considering the first one of the worst movies we've seen in recent years. I appreciate what Stallone was trying to do, but the overcrowding of cast members, the utterly pointless Jason Statham/Charisma Carpenter subplot, and the horrible CGI were huge detractors.

Well, I for one applaud Chucks want for the film to be PG-13. It will be an amazing and beautiful movie without all harsh and pointless swearing, and anything R rating related. This movie will be crammed packed back to back full of amazing actors and kick*** violence, hard core manly hood for all ages teens to adults. It's not going to be a movie for people to miss, this will be one of the best, probably better then the 1st movie, out there for 2012. Your gonna have to be pretty freakin retarded to miss this movie, or even let something like "less swearing or a little less blood" affect you from seeing this movie. That's like saying the only reason you go to a party is to get drunk, sure many people like to do that and thats the reason why some people go, but heck, you dont have to get drunk to have a great time. You go to a party to socialize with everyone and fine stuff to do, you can have a lot better time then just drinking.
