Things have been a little quiet on The Amazing Spider-Man front recently (well, unless you're an avid Pez fan).
But that's changed today with the unveiling of a cool new poster, which clearly takes a leaf out of Batman's stylish book, and marks a departure from the brightly-coloured promos of Sam Raimi's era.
The poster, featured on Superhero Hype, shows Peter Parker perched nimbly on a wall, with his shadow creating an iconic arachnid design. That tagline makes the film's intentions pretty clear too...
Check out the poster in full below:

The Amazing Spider-Man opens on 4 July 2012, which surely means there must be a new trailer coming soon.

What do you think of the new poster? Do tell!

The untold story, yeah right. You mean we just imagined the last 3 films? What tool came up with that?

That's probably the dumbest tagline they could possibly come up with for a reboot of a recent franchise that's telling the same origin story.

That is one dumb looking poster. Should have tried an optical illusion where an image can seen as two images. One of his natural shadow and one of an arachnid. That would be a cool poster.

I thought this looked kinda cool at first, but the more I look at it, the worse it seems. And the tagline is terrible. Way to go, guys. You ruined your on "OK" thing.

Without trying to sound like dalidab or crazyfilmguy or what ever he likes to call himself now, I just can't believe how negative people are over this!, Raimi's version was good, but missed out on so much! so it is an untold story! while I feel for Raimi's No. 3 ( I reckon it was heavily influenced by the studio) missing out on the Gwen Stacy story was in my eyes as a spiderman fan, criminal!. I don't see why this has to even compete with Batman, I will be enjoying both films and I can see this being a lot better than Raimi's version. Great Cast, great Director and it has the right feel to it.

Except for Idianabones and Badger86, you are all idiots. The poster looks cool, nice and dark. True that the tagline is too self-aware but nothing can be perfect.

jeez cut them some slack guys, i mean raimi's 1st and 2nd were good, third was s**t, besides this seems a completely different take on perhaps a similar story. and agree with indianabones the cast is great, the director is great, and what has it got to do with tdkr? both are two completely different films. the only connection this has to batman is perhaps that taking a cue from batman begins this is a darker and serious version. and please remember their is a lot more to spiderman than what raimi has covered, and i dont mind the tagline as well, maybe this is an untold story, i am only saying that by all means slam this movie if it is bad but atleast give it a chance first. i want a spiderman film, if this happens to be better and serious version i dont mind!

Indianabones, badger86 and albongo are right this is an amzing poster! Really reflects the new take on the franchise! I'll admit I'm looking forward to TDKR more but to be fair, I wouldn't mind going to see this! And for all the people saying they already know this 'told' story, not really Raimi took his on take on the franchise so I think this is going back to basics, for example the web shooters are back!

Amazing Spideman. Or it's true title: We have to roll something out or the rights revert back to Marvel/Disney.
