The Amazing Spider-Man’s Lizard revealed in concept art

Mysterious image surfaces online…

After yesterday’s story revealed that The Amazing Spider-Man’s big bad, The Lizard, had been ignominiously spoiled by a tie-in Pez dispenser, more concept art has surfaced online.

ComingSoon spotted this image over at SpiderMedia.ru and they reckon it’s a fairly good match for The Lizard revealed at this year’s Comic-Con (even though it's a slightly weedier earlier design).

If you’re averse to spoilers, you probably wouldn’t have read this far anyway, but now’s the time to look away.

This incarnation of Dr Curt Connors’ reptilian alter-ego looks oddly like a man-in-a-suit design, despite the fact that he’ll be a CGI-creation on screen.

The lack of snout gives The Lizard a fairly human face, though since one of our Facebook followers said Lizard-Pez “looks like one of the reptilian dudes from the Super Mario film” we can’t get the image of those godforsaken Goombas out of our mind.

Check out the full image below:

The Amazing Spider-Man opens on 4 July 2012.

Liking the look of The Lizard? Or are the harrowing memories of Super Mario Bros ruining it for you? Do tell us…

I've seen the comic-con footage, and he is MUCH bigger than this (as referenced in the article). I really don't like it, its just a giant, extremely obvious CG Monster.

Definitely needs the snout, it just looks stupid otherwise.

Dreadful. The head is all wrong. I don't want the LIZARD to have a human head. It doesn't match the rest of his body and makes me laugh at him as if I was watching Super Mario Bros or "V" The TV Series. It's that bad. I seriously hope this is not his final look. What a waste on my favorite Spidey Baddie

That better not be right, it's f*****g hideous. Lizard should have a snout for Christ sake, that looks like one of the ugly-a**e things from Signs.

Not particularly impressed here, I wanted something more animalistic, like the version of the lizard in the animated series. This art just looks like a deformed man with a tale, its not extreme enough for my liking.
