The first trailer for Marvel's Thor lands!

Check out Kenneth Branagh's superhero epic

The eagerly anticipated trailer for Marvel's Thor has finally landed on the net.

Kenneth Branagh's take on Marvel's Norse god is due to hit cinemas in April 2011, and this is the first proper footage (bar some set visit snippets) that has been released outside the walls of Comic-Con.

So, how does it measure up? Considering the growing concern relating to the delay of the trailer, we were getting a little antsy, but this is an impressive promo.

Chris Hemsworth looks and sounds the part as Thor, wielding the lofty dialogue as powerfully as the enchanted hammer, Mjolnir. A shirtless shot will probably help draw in the lady demographics too.

Elsewhere Anthony Hopkins gives Thor a damn good talking to, setting the plot in motion, and giving a pretty concise summary of what we can expect plotwise.

Tom Hiddleston's Loki skulks moodily in the background, but the trailer has little space for him or Natalie Portman's Jane Foster.

Branagh looks to have a decent grip on the action too, with impressive set-pieces glimpsed on Earth and Asgard.

There have been some whispers that the 3D conversion isn't up to much, but we'll have to wait until this debuts in front of TRON: Legacy to be able to judge that.

Thor is set to be released on April 29 2011 in the UK.

When I was a child reading Thor comics in the 60's, the most amazing thing to me was this incredible transformation of puny crippled medical student Dr Don Blake into Thor the God of Thunder! Blake stumbles across aliens while on holiday in Norway, when they chase him he loses his walking stick, but finds gnarled cane in a cave, when he strikes this ancient stick on a rock he miraculously transforms into The Mighty Thor - God of Thunder! The disguised hammer becomes Mjolnir his faithful weapon. Don Blake was a small slightly built man and Thor a towering muscular 6ft 4in plus! As an imaginative boy I was totally blown away by the change in personalities of the two characters! Essentially two sides of the same person. I was lucky enough to have the issue this story appeared in (wish I still had it now!) It appears the movie does not contain Dr Don Blake, and what about his private practice nurse Jane Foster who he falls in love with? It seems they focus on the Shakespearian/Asgardian family story of conflicted father/son relationships, the evil step-brother and banishment from the realm as the main story drivers for Thor! I hope Don Blake can be introduced at a later point to provide Thor with his secret alter-ego/identify!

This is probably the film that i am looking forward to the the most. Thor is one of my favorite characters, so god bless branagh for what looks like a flawless adap. Don Blake is not in the film but feige has said that there is a faint reference to him in the film. Maybe he'll be in future installments, providing Thor is the hit it should be.

By the looks of things a rich, deep grade to the film... not too sure plotwise however. Great cast though. Wonder what the cutsomary 'marvel ending' will be? ;)
