The Fly gets operatic

It’s not the first plot that springs to mind when you consider stories suitable for an opera-style makeover, but that hasn’t stopped David Cronenberg, Howard Shore and opera star/director Placido Domingo from sticking with the project.

Now, it’s about ready to start rehearsals in Paris with the Los Angeles Opera performing Shore’s score. But despite Cronenberg’s involvement, don’t expect much vomiting or limb shedding – it’s been adapted from George Langelaan’s original novel, not Cronenberg’s goresome take.
