Attempting to finally get the film made, Fox 2000 has hired Men In Black scribe Ed Solomon to rewrite The Hardy Men.
It must surely be National Old Movie Projects Day in Hollywood, because this is the third pic brushing off the development cobwebs and starting the slow crawl up the studio pipe.
Whether Solomon can get it into workable form is anyone’s guess – despite the star power of Tom Cruise and Ben Stiller, the film has taken more than 10 years so far to make.
For those who’ve forgotten (or who weren’t born when it was first pitched), Men follows the awkward, grown-up versions of teen ‘tecs The Hardy Boys.
The estranged brothers have to work together to solve a new mystery.
Mr & Mrs Smith writer Simon Kinberg was the last person to take a crack at the film and Stiller must have been hoping that the reaction to Cruise in Tropic Thunder will help kick things into high gear.
Still, he waited years to get the Thunder produced, so he and director Shawn Levy can hold off a little longer…
Are you anticipating more Cruise comedy? Or do you think this film has been stuck in the pipes for a reason?
