The Hobbit filming delayed by Peter Jackson’s ill health

Director undergoing surgery

Tragedy! Just when things were looking rosy on the Hobbit film adaptations, filming is to be delayed once again.

This time, though, nobody’s really to blame – director Peter Jackson fell ill with stomach pains on Wednesday, and underwent surgery last night at the Wellington Hospital for a perforated ulcer.

He’s apparently resting comfortably and is expected to make a full recovery (phew), but the fall-out of his sudden ill health is that filming of The Hobbit will be slightly delayed.

“Sir Peter's surgery is not expected to impact on his directing commitment to The Hobbit beyond a slight delay to the start of filming,” reads the official statement on the matter.

Filming was set to kick off next month, though no new dates have been officially announced. Better late than never, eh? Get well soon, fella.

Let's face it, he's looked ill and exhausted ever since King Kong. This has probably been coming on a long time. Get well soon, Pete.
