Thor: First look at Odin and Loki!

Anthony Hopkins has a bad-ass eyepatch!

Thor has been quietly filming away for a while now and the production has just delivered its second official still, showing Anthony Hopkins as Odin, in full regalia for the first time. Check out that eye patch!

Over Hopkins' right shoulder you'll see Tom Hiddleston (not to be confused with the Tottenham midfielder, Tom Huddlestone) as the mischevious Loki.

Though we've already seen an official still of Chris Hemsworth as the titular Norse God of Thunder, this is the first time we've seen him with mythical hammer Mjolnir in hand.

Also released today was new that both Thor and Captain America will be receiving 3D conversions in post-production. Joy.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige told the LA Times: 'There’s not a great feeling out there for (3D) conversion based on some of the films that may have succeeded financially but had their artistry come under fire.'

He went on to say that "an unprecedented amount of time" will be devoted to the 3D conversion on Thor and Captain America, and that the effects for both films have been conceived from day one in 3D.

"The citadels of Asgard and the rainbow bridge at its gates lend themselves to 3D.” Thanks for the reassurance Kev.

Thor footage will be presented to fans at Comic-Con, which will hopefully shed more light on exactly what we can expect the comic book adaptation.

Fingers crossed that Marvel can iron out the post-conversion bumps suffered by Clash Of The Titans, Alice In Wonderland and The Last Airbender then. Here's hoping...

Lovin' Hopkins eye patch? Think Thor will need significantly bigger patches to survive 3D? Let us know!

Technically that's Hopkins' left shoulder you can see Loki over, but let's not split hairs... I must say, Hopkins looks a damned side harder than Hemsworth. He just looks like a girl with a hammer...

It's looking good. I like the symitry between the 3 "outfits" and Norse or not they're still gods, shiny and clean in the royal palace (or whatever they're in) is surely the order of the day. Mjolnir looks massive though, as I suppose it should? As for 3D conversions, there's a lot fewer people that thought Alice really had issues than you'd think, the longevity and size of it's box office confirms that in itself; It's the useless RUSH JOB conversions that stink! Clash and The Last Airbender gave themselves just weeks to get a 3D conversion done and it was never considerd during filming. Even if you think Fiege is lying about the effects for these films being designed with 3D in mind (given both films have / are being shot this year there's no reason to assume it isn't true) the fact remains that Thor hasNINE months to sort its conversion out and Captain AMerica 11 months. If they can't get it right in that time then fair enough I'll make a fuss like I did with Clash and Airbender, but I see this working. ONe last thing; people like to complain when studios do things to make more money but consider this, if it works it WILL make both films more enjoyable. I was amazed that Iron Man 2 Thor & Cap weren't sht in 3D in the first place. I like the Marvel Movieverse project and I want it to succeed and lead to more good, fun movies. Well the more money Iron Man, Avengers, Thor, Nick Fury and co's moviess ,ake, the more Marvel can spend on new movies and so on. It must have hurt Marvel to release Iron Man 2 and have it's significant increaase in international attendance almost wiped out by the change in exchange rates. Iron Man II still made a fair bit more than Iron Man internationaly, and in its global total, but not as much as it would / should have. Add to that the stone cold fact that had the film been released in 3D it would have likely been looking at the $700m - %800m gross level, rather than the, still excellent, $600 - $650 it will finish with. Even with a poor conversion, look at Clash and Last Airbender which not only have abysmal conversions but are equaly poor films. Sometimes you have to give the moneymen a pass, without them we'd have no movies at all. Of course we're all hoping that Thor and Catain America are actually good films! Can't wait to find out.

Some one should inform Kevin Feige that these films were NOT principally shot in 3D so why waste time and money on gimmicks. Isn't the story, acting and cinematography good enough that you have to resort the fad of the day. What a cheeseball. Peter Jackson got it marvelously right with LOTR. Let's hope Kenneth Branagh gets it right. If this movie turns out to be camp it will go down like a lead balloon. The costumes really don't look all that great either.
