Tobey Maguire's among The Crusaders

In a real-life courtroom drama that ended segregation in US schools…

Gary Ross and Tobey Maguire are teaming up to make their third film together, and like Seabiscuit, it’s another period piece. Less chance of horse action this time, despite the planned film’s title: The Crusaders.

The titular warriors are legal, and the film will tell the story of the lawyers who fought in the legendary case of Brown Vs Board Of Education, that saw the end of segregation in American schools. Maguire is planning to play Jack Greenberg, a fresh-faced law school graduate.

It’ll have to wait, though – Ross has another film on the go already and the script’s only now being written. Variety is gathering its evidence.
