Toby Jones talks Arnim Zola’s return in Captain America: The Winter Soldier

“You won’t be disappointed”

Toby Jones is one of the original ensemble confirmed for a return in superhero sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and has given a little briefing as to what we can expect from his character in the new film.

Jones plays Arnim Zola, the Nazi scientist who assisted the Red Skull in the first film, but it sounds as though he’ll be appearing in a very different form in the sequel...

"All I can say about it is that I was pleased to be brought back," says Jones. "I thought I might be - because you'd know better than I do - but Zola finds a way to defeat time, and you won't be disappointed with the way that's been treated in the film."

Sounds like we could be about to see Zola in his more famous form, with his consciousness transferred into a robotic body. That’s yet to be confirmed of course, but we’d hazard a guess that that’s the aspect of “defeating time” Jones is referring to.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo and co-starring Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie, Captain America: The Winter Soldier will open in the UK on 4 April 2014.

What are you hoping to see from the sequel? Tell us, below!

I'm not. Just because the hero is from the past, doesn't mean everyone he knew needs to somehow make it to present day as well. I know this is a 'silly' superhero film, but this is pushing the bounds of believability too far.

@Mattburgess the films are only taking impersonation from the comics, after all they are comic book films so I like this news - I just hope they handle it well I mean in the comics he's basically a head in a robot - However on an other note I hope the post credits are the return of The Red Skull he was defeated to easy in the first and he's Captains biggest foe and behind some of the biggest stories Ps. Cap. Is not a silly superhero film the first just wasn't directed well, Cap is the head of Marvel and deserves a better solo film, hopefully Winter Soldier will provide this

@mattburgess: Well, to be honest, my initial reaction was disgust. "Do they have to bring everyone back?" Then I googled the character from the comics, and it made a lot more sense. Now I'm actually looking forward to it.

Eh Toby's character was one of the weak points of Cap Merica.
