British period crime drama Peaky Blinders has signed up another major star for its forthcoming second series, with Tom Hardy confirmed to be joining the cast.
Hardy will star as "a charismatic leader who presents a unique opportunity to Tommy Shelby", Cillian Murphy's ruthless gang leader.
Hardy previously worked with series creator Steven Knight on Locke, and has appeared alongside Murphy in the likes of Inception and The Dark Knight Rises.
Set in Birmingham in 1919, Peaky Blinders is growing increasingly stuffed with big-screen talent, with Hardy and Murphy joined by the likes of Sam Neill and Helen McCrory.
With production soon to get underway, the new series is scheduled to air on the BBC towards the end of the year.
