Tom Hiddleston will play Loki

Ken Branagh finds Thor’s nemesis

After months of rumours, Thor is finally coming together quickly, as Ken Branagh and Marvel have tracked down a nemesis for Thor – Loki, in the shape of Tom Hiddleston.

While he was apparently under consideration to play the lead, that role has now gone to Star Trek’s Chris Hemsworth.

But Branagh clearly likes his Wallander co-star, as he’s selected him to play Thor’s twisted, evil brother (below), who plots against him.

And it signals a change in the approach for the Marvel team – after selecting high profile thesps for Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk, they’re now targeting relative unknowns (though both Hemsworth and Hiddleston are better known over here in Blighty).

Now we need a female lead. Think it’ll be a newcomer?
