Tragedy strikes John Woo's Red Cliff

A stuntman is killed in an accidental fire…

John Woo must be thinking that his latest film – The Battle Of Red Cliff – is more than a little cursed.

What was supposed to be his triumphant return to Hong Kong filmmaking has faced more than its fair share of trouble, with problems over stars, budget and weather.

And now a 23-year-old stuntman has been killed and six other people injured when a boat struck a warship set. What’s more, the film was almost finished shooting and the accident happened while the second unit crew was close to wrapping up its work. The incident is being investigated and Variety has the full story.
