The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey has continued to raise our anticipation levels by revealing two new posters.
TheOneRing.net spotted the new one-sheets when they went on sale (which is handy if you want to buy them and plonk them on your wall).
The first is an epic in The Lord Of The Rings mould, with lead Dwarf Thorin Oakenshield readying his sword in the centre (we like to think he’s fending off an enemy by shining the light in their eyes).
Elsewhere, the token ‘handsome’ Dwarf Kili (Aidan Turner) smoulders while taking aim with his bow, with a soulful moodiness that’d make Legolas jealous.
TOR.net handily points out that the ugly fella at the top of the page is goblin warrior Borg, who’ll no doubt be squaring up for a showdown with a key character before the end of Part One.
Check out the new poster in full below:

The second poster is a little less visually striking, but draws attention to the White Council, and scores points for featuring some familiar LOTR faces:

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey opens on 14 December 2012, with The Desolation Of Smaug following on 13 September 2013, and There And Back Again completing the trilogy on 18 July 2014.

Two great posters, but I think the top one is a bit cluttered. Go to the original Star Wars posters to see how it should be done. I quite like the 2nd poster. Both good at atmosphere and tone setting.

They both look a bit jumbled to be honest.

Are these official!? I'm shocked that a stock Photoshop filter like 'lens flare' would be used on a on a poster for these films. The design and artwork on these movies will be mind-blowing. These posters are a bit...'meh'

Yay for Saruman. Don't remember seeing him in any of the trailers, so glad to see he's going to make an appearance.

Well he's part of the White Council but I wasn't sure if he'd be part of The Hobbit due to being 90.

I think it's more likely that big goblin is Bolg; which means he'll show up mostly in film two... though PJ has a habit of adding in an extra villain when he needs one.
