Elysium has released a pair of new TV spots online, in which Matt Damon attempts to bridge the gap between two halves of a chronically fragmented society.
The new film is set on a future version of Earth, a ruined, resource-drained husk, where the world’s poor are forced to live on their wits and little else.
Meanwhile, the wealthy and privileged have all upped sticks to Elysium, a luxurious space-station where their every need and whim is catered for, and the riff-raff are kept out by Jodie Foster’s ruthless security chief.
The new spots show off a few new snippets of the film’s explosive action, as Damon’s character attempts to infiltrate Elysium in order to find the cure to a burgeoning plague down on Earth.

Excitingstuff, no? Neill Blomkamp certainly has an eye for science-fiction that’s both thrilling and intellectually stimulating, and this one looks to tick both boxes once more.
Co-starring Alice Braga, Sharlto Copley and William Fichtner, Elysium opens in the UK on 21 August 2013.
