The success of CSI and 24, not to mention such respected dramas as The Sopranos has led to a raft of movie stars looking to kick up some small-screen kudos (and inflate their bank balance along the way).
The latest thesp looking to join the boob tube crowd is Jeff Goldblum, who is in final negotiations – those toilet break considerations count, y’know – to sign up for Seeing Red. The pilot, which will be shot for US network NBC, focuses on an eccentric, brilliant cop who bears Hollytelly’s current hot talent: the ability to see dead people. Who help him solve crimes. So not at all like Medium, with Patricia Arquette, then. Still, Red has a solid pedigree, with Green Mile director Frank Darabont helming the pilot and Graham Yost writing.
And he’s not the only one. Anne Heche will star in a drama called Men In Trees, about a female psychologist who moves to Alaska after she learns that her husband had been cheating on her, only to discover herself surrounded by available men. James Mangold, who helmed Oscar-nominated Johnny Cash biopic Walk The Line, is calling the shots.
