To paraphrase Homer Simpson, “First you get the money, then you get the power, the you get the women, then you get the second remake.”
Yes, Universal is prepping a third Scarface movie, which will apparently reimagine the crime drama for modern times in the same way Brian De Palma's film reflected its '80s era.
One link to that 1983 remake is producer Martin Bregman, who will serve as producer on the new film.
According to reports, the new Scarface is in the very early stages. But having already seen the American crime thriller played out with Chicago gangsters in 1932 and then coke-fuelled Cubans, it'll be interesting to see where it heads next.

Seriously, though, it'd be cool if they go with Eastern Europeans, because Vice City was heavily influenced by Scarface, and you know where the forth GTA protagonist was from.

Eastern Europeans and get Cronenberg to do it, he's proved he doesn't mind a reimagining/ remake with The Fly; plus if he got Viggo in it the film would kick some a*s!

I always saw New Jack City as a Scarface update, using the rise of crack cocaine as the modern influence. Pretty sure they referenced the film too with Snipes' Nino Brown rewatching the Al Pacino firefight scene over and over. Have to agree some kind of Vice City/Eastern Promises mashup would be awesome!
