Vin Diesel prepares for action in a new poster for Riddick

Survival is his revenge

Vin Diesel’s Riddick is back for an eponymous third outing, and a new poster’s been released as a reminder.

Featuring Diesel crouched down and ready for action (blade: check; space goggles: check; heavy-duty walking boots: check), the poster sports the slightly bemusing tagline, ‘Survival is his revenge’. We’re guessing that survival is just going to be the beginning of it once Riddick starts exacting his vengeance...

Set some time after the events of The Chronicles Of Riddick, the new film promises to be much closer tonally to Pitch Black, the tough, modestly-budgeted sci-fi that launched the character.

This time out, the gruff antihero finds himself left for dead on an arid planet. As well as having the habitat’s predatory wildlife to deal with, he has a clan of mercenaries and a figure from his past on his tail.

Check out the poster in full below:

Directed by David Twohy and co-starring Katee Sackhoff, Karl Urban and Dave Bautista, Riddick opens in the UK on 4 September 2013.

I SO want this movie to work. Riddick is Diesels' best character, and one cinema's best anti-heroes. The fact that it has an R-rating attached, bodes well and indicates it has not watered-down the violence and dispensed with 'adult themes' that has killed off Die Hard series.

I disagree Vin's best work was easily Shane Wolfe in The Pacifier.
