Vin Diesel shares concept art for Riddick 3

Film will be R-rated

The character of Richard B. Riddick has had a rollercoaster ride in the movies. Low-budget action horror Pitch Black made him a hit, then The Chronicles Of Riddick bombed to make him a Hollywood outcast.

You can't keep a bad man down, though. And Riddick star Vin Diesel has shared concept art from what will be the third movie in the series, promising it will be as R-rated as the blood spatter here suggests.

“I am grateful to have Universal in such support of this complex character's journey... not many studios would back an "R" rating. Very cool,” Diesel told his Facebook fans.

“While I was working on character, the director and his team of artists have been creating the world and style of this picture. We all know how much I enjoy concept art and storyboards. I'm like a kid in a candy shop.”

According to the actor the third Riddick film will begin its shoot in Canada.

“First stop for the Riddick production is Canada, which is where we shot a large part of Chronicles,” he confirmed.

Riddick is a brilliant character, he deserves more than a bloated space-opera like the last one, keep it lean and mean like Escape from Butcher Bay or Assault on Dark Athena and people will be happy.

Apparently they are leaning more towards to look and feel of Pitch Black ... which can only be a good thing in my book! I'm actually looking forward to this one next year ... Chronicles had potential but was ultimately disappointing, if the film-makers bring in elements of Butcher Bay and/or Athena then it will be a Hell of an improvement.
