Vin Diesel teases meeting with Marvel

Says the studio has asked to see him

Vin Diesel could be about to join the spandex club, with the star revealing on Facebook that a meeting is imminent between himself and Marvel Studios.

“Marvel has requested a meeting… no idea what for," revealed the star on the social networking site. "Haha, you probably know better than me…”

Now obviously this is some way short of official casting confirmation for any of Marvel's upcoming projects, but it certainly sounds as though they have a part in mind for Diesel.

Could it be that they're thinking of employing Diesel's gruff tones to voice ultimate bad guy, Thanos? Or do they have his stature in mind for Guardians Of The Galaxy's talking tree, Groot?

We'd guess that the eclectic cast being gathered together by the latter might be the most likely destination, although we'll have to keep an eye on Diesel's Facebook page to find out for sure...

What do you think of Diesel's revelation? Tell us, below!

How much more twoddle can we pack into a 2hr movie? The first Avengers was an absolute mess due to 450 superheroes, agencies and villains...and people thought SpiderMan 3 had too much!?

@garyu2 ... you do realise that the whole concept of The Avengers is a TEAM of superheroes facing a threat none of them can withstand alone? Although 450? Bit of an exaggeration as the roster was only 6. Obviously everyone has their view-point and if you didn't enjoy it, or were confused by a simple concept then fair enough, but you come across as a bit of a twit in your post ... and comparing Avengers to Spider-Man 3 is just silly, I'm almost inclined to say "go away troll" but I fear you may just be genuine.

I reckon Diesel is up for a voice role in GOTG, either Groot or maybe Rocket (not sure if RR's voice actor has been cast yet). Benicio Del Toro is already in GOTG and most seem to think he's going to play Thanos (which would be excellent IMO) so Vin playing the main bad guy would out and surely he's too big a name to play a henchman or secondary villain? I'm intrigued either way.

He would be good as Apocalypse. Does X-Men: DOFP have another villain other than Magento?

I know there's been a lot of debate previously about ethnicity of certain characters (that Johnny Storm story springs to mind), but Diesel does have the physique and gruffness of a Luke Cage maybe?

In the comic it was more humans and the sentinels as the villains, mutants were locked up in concentration camps or slaughtered by the thousands by the Sentinel programme. I don't know how much different the film will be from the comics, but at the time of publication, Apocalypse hadn't been introduced into the X-Men world, he came along in the mid/late 80's. Days Of Future Past was 1981 ... and, well I don't wanna spoil anything. @Hadouken76 try and grab a tradepaperback of the story ... as I say the film will probably differ greatly from the comic anyway, but if you read that you'll see why it's considered a classic and it will answer your Magneto question too :)

@Mattimus: very true, none of the X-Men films have really stuck 100% to their comic book counterparts. Both X-Men (2000) and X-Men: First Class had different starting line ups, I'd love to see the original 5 (Cyclops, Ice Man, Beast, Marvel Girl, Angel) but I feel unless they officially reboot the franchise in a few years, that will never happen now. I guess there's no reason to not include Apocalypse ... they seem to be chucking everyone else in (including Kitchen Sink Boy) other than he had nothing to do with it in the comics :-)

There is no Thanos in GOTG, Marvel are making no ties between GOTG and the Avengers, just in case GOTG is c**p, theres then nothing tying it to there other movies. I can not see Diesel as a caped crusader though and have no idea who they could want him to play??? I would go with the voice of Groot but Disney would have made him remove the facebook post so it could be for one of there movies scheduled for 2016...

Yep. Avengers was a mess. The whole film was just like... "soooo what". c**p. Rob Downey was the only redeeming feature. Shall we discuss the Poofiest Villain Of All Time.....Loki? lol
