Viola Davis has some Doubt

She’s joined Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman in the play adaptation

Plays continue to be a rich mine for studios to tap, and a movie version of John Patrick Shanley’s Tony-nabbing drama Doubt has been developing at Miramax for a while now.

Meryl Streep, Amy Adams and Philip Seymour Hoffman are already attached to the prestige project and now Disturbia’s Viola Davis has joined them, playing the mother of a young male student who studies under Hoffman’s priest character. But Streep’s Sister Aloysius becomes suspicious when a younger nun (Adams) witnesses the pair together.

Shanley penned the adaptation of his work, and he started directing it last week in New York.
