Warner says Green Lantern 2 will be 'edgier'

Studio also has 'solid script' for The Flash

Warner Bros. film group president Jeff Robinov says the sequel to Green Lantern will be “edgier and darker”.
The film opened with a $53m box office take in the US, but only managed to pull in $114m overall.
“We had a decent opening so we learned there is an audience. To go forward we need to make it a little edgier and darker with more emphasis on action. And we have to find a way to balance the time the movie spends in space versus on Earth,” Robinov told the Los Angeles Times
Green Lantern 2 would also likely see a change of director, even though Martin Campbell is believed to have a clause in his contract giving him an option to work on a sequel.
Robinov also confirmed Warner Bros. Has “a solid script” for The Flash
That could pave the way for a Justice League movie pairing The Flash, Superman, Batman and Green Lantern.

Will a darker script for the Green Lantern sequel solve its problems? Or does the character need a complete overhaul before getting his membership to The Justice League? Let us know below!

The problem wasn't that Green Lantern wasn't dark enough. It was that it was rubbish. As much as I like Ryan Reynolds, he's not Hal Jordan.

Totally agree, he is more suited to Kyle Raynor's character ... Warners should have really pushed to get Bradley Cooper, he was more of a Hal Jordan type. I hope in the sequel we get more of the Corps and possibly Guy Gardner and / or John Steward as the lead GL for Earth. Reynolds (bless him, he tried, but ultimately failed) can go off and concentrate on Deadpool then :)

Another one? Then let it be a re-boot, pretending the 1st one never happened. And drop the CGI costume, it was downright ridiculous. As for the Justice League, i don't think that Nolan's Batman will match the tone, so another re-boot required ;-)

The first one bombed, why make a sequel? Is it an attempt at a cover up, pretend the first one didn't happen?? >.

Green Lantern was absolutely awesome! Ryan Reynolds not only delivered but made this movie great. I loved it and hope to see the sequel very soon. 10/10 from me. Best Super Hero movie of 2011 in my opinion.
