Warners developing Sherlock Holmes sequel

And the Brad Pitt/Moriarty rumours rise again…

Warners must be feeling confident about Sherlock Holmes - the studio has already tasked writers to begin hatching a sequel.

The first film doesn't even hit cinemas for three months and scribes Kieran and Michele Mulroney - who had been at work on the seemingly stalled Justice League: Mortal - are getting ready to have a crack at the first draft of a Sherlock 2.

And The Hollywood Reporter is re-stoking the recent embers of rumours that Brad Pitt might show up - in some form or another - as Holmes' main nemesis, Moriarty.

We'd warn there's a possible spoiler alert here, so skip along to the next paragraph if you don't want to learn anything. People that have read the script and seen early cuts report that there are possible glimpses of the character, but in shadow and impossible to recognise.

According to the trade mag, the studio is likely to lock in deals with Robert Downey Jr, Jude Law, Rachel McAdams and Guy Ritchie, though like its plan with The Hangover's sequel, it might wait to see how the film performs before committing to more than script development…
