Watch new Prometheus trailer and viral video online now

Ridley Scott's Alien prequel produces stunning trailer...

Prometheus has had a big day.

First, we were treated to a live Q&A with Prometheus director Sir Ridley Scott and writer Damon Lindelof.

With Scott and Lindelof in fairly relaxed form - only once did Ridley worry about being "shot by Fox" for revealing possible spoilers - the Q&A was an enjoyable watch.

Our favourite bit? The question on evolution, which led Lindelof to seemingly elucidate on the "Alien DNA" quote.

Lindelof described Prometheus' extra-terrestrial threat as the "hunched-over monkey" to Alien's "humanoid progression" - which suggests to us they're fairly closely connected, in the evolutionary sense at least.

Then, we got a neat viral video, voiced by Michael Fassbender, which is the 2083 equivalent to an iPad ad, and is more fun the less you know about it.

And then, the big one. The full trailer, in HD, which is so breath-taking, so preposterously exciting, we're going to let it speak for itself.

WARNING: It's so awesome it may well make your heart burst out of your chest.

June can't get here fast enough.

Excited? Of course you are. Tell us what you think of the trailer below!

So Prometheus, is a project looking for human origins in space, it finds a civilisation and is wrong about its intentions. The alien civilisation needs space faring travellers because its ship, leaves on human contact and is on a course to earth for nefarious reasons. Prometheus crashes into it, leaving the space jockey ship for Alien and no humans survive as Ripley has to go off course to a respond to the distress signal in Alien. So Alien civilisation wants to harvest/colonise/enslave earth once they advance to a technological level and facebusters etc are the foot shoulders..

Sweet Jesus! That is easily one of the finest trailers I've ever seen. And to think, the teaser was already one of the best of the year - but this one makes all earlier efforts look like chump change by comparison. Money shot, after money shot, after money shot. If the end movie is only one-fifth as good as this awesomeness, then we'll still have a classic on our hands. :-)

Event Horizon, Sunshine and Dead Space were all influenced by Alien, so its no surprise that this 'sort of' prequel has the same elements. Anyway, it looks likes a belter can't wait. Anyone want to see Fassbender as a replicant in Sir Ridleys Blade Runner prequel /sequel /sidequel? I know I do.

Hadouken I'll give you Event Horizon etc, but Sunshine was its own beast. For a start it was intensely focussed on the search for light/God/deeper meaning (that and it had a kick-a*s score, and one that keeps being re-used in movie trailers now). :-)

Looks incredible...@Hadouken76 agreed...I'm sure at one point Scott mentioned that Bladerunner and Alien were at least intended to be part of the same universe and how awesome would it be for him to tie them together in that way? anyway, counting the days...

@Trickycustomer but they kind of had to though didn't they? if they had admitted this was a flat out prequel, then we would expect Xenomorphs and it does not look like we are getting them...

Film set in space looks like other things set in space.Really? Thanks for pointing that out ballybag you incredible F u ckwit! This looks so Fu cking good i can't wait to see it,and the trailer does seem to hint at some Alien action,if not full grown xenomorphs then at least a facehugger or two, like the bit where you hear one of the crew screaming "Cut it off,cut it off!" ok he could be talking about an engine or something but to me it seems possible.

@moodymonkey - see your point but ridley could of saved the stir up by just saying we are treading onto new ground or exploring before alien. that would of worked fine. Still this will no doubt be an excellent film!

Feel like an excited 12 year old. Hope it meets expectation, as the trailer has only increased my enthusiasm. Nice to see other people thought the pyramid had a boob shape. Also think the face sculpture is feminine. God a women? It would fit in with the strong female characters that have run through the franchise. Looking at Scotts previous work, I cannot wait to see what goes into the Blu ray / DVD.

agreed, ALT46, i wasn't trying to be funny when i said it looked like a boob, i think he's expanding on the theme he created with Giger, who had intense sexual symbolism in his work. after all, this is about the origins of life, evolution and the creation of man so some pseudo-anatomical imagery fits in well, like it's a part of the narrative

Just looked at the break down on a rival magazine site. The image of an alien appears to be in the form of a cruxifix, with angelic type wings. Also looks like one of the crew morphs into the space jockey. This maybe a prequal, and maybe the first worthy one at that. The production design looks incredible.

I'm a little late on the scene with this one, but I just watched the trailer yesterday, and I gotta say, f**k all the other films this year - I am now looking forward to this one the most. Sorry Mr Nolan, sorry Joss. Sir Ridley has my vote...

My guess is that one of the humans gets contaminated or whatever and morphs, slows becomes a space jockey... or something like that? Who knows, who really cares. This looks incredible. Can't bloody wait!
