He’s been busy for ages working on The Fantastic Mr Fox, but now Wes Anderson has another job: writing an adaptation of Patrice Leconte’s 2006 French comedy My Best Friend.
Anderson is also considering directing the eventual film, according to Variety, which in its original Gallic form (Mon Meilleur Ami) found Daniel Auteuil as a grouchy antiques dealer who discovers that his mates hate him.
So what does he do? He bets a pal he can produce a best friend and attempts to cajole a cabbie into the position.
While it doesn’t sound quite as quirky as Anderson’s usual fair, we’re sure he’ll find ways to tailor it to his strengths. There’s no word on when it’ll go into production yet, though.
