Which HBO actress is on the Fantastic Four shortlist?

TV star on for Sue Storm role?

The Fantastic Four reboot has gathered a bit of rumour-momentum, with the news that Allison Williams is on the shortlist for the Sue Storm role.

The news was broken very casually, in the midst of a Deadline story reporting that the actress has bagged the lead role in Rosaline, Fox’s revisionist take on Romeo And Juliet (from the perspective of the first object of flighty Romeo’s affection).

More exciting, however, is the tidbit that Williams is on The Fantastic Four’s shortlist (which is obviously in its earliest stages).

Currently best known for playing Marnie in HBO’s Girls, Williams has so far worked solely on TV. Seems Fox aren’t shy of hunting out lesser-known up-and-comers for this reboot.

Given director’s Josh Trank’s take on superheroes in Chronicle, we’re expecting a darker, harder-edged take on the comic quartet than we saw in the previous, family-friendly movies.

The Fantastic Four is expected to open in 2015.

Do you think Williams would make a good Sue Storm? Tell us below…

I hope they do don't a full re-launch and start from the beginning again. Just recast and give us a new adventure. You could cover the 'Origin' in a brief opening. Don't think there's any need for us to see another take on how they got their powers (Amazing Spiderman is proof of this. Although nothing wrong with what they did, it just wasn't anything new enough to justify re-doing what Raimi and Maguire did a few years before).

SiMan - i know what your saying, like the Hulk and The Incredible hulk or Punisher and Punisher war zone are different universes but no 30-60mins introduction to who they are, but opening credits and "flash backs". It could work, but would be nice to have a short introduction to their trip to space, and I mean short, I agree ASM was great film but took over half the film before we saw the spider-man we love swinging around NYC

Who else is on this shortlist? It could be made up of Rosanne Barr, Betty White, and Kareem Abdul Jabar, and I would take any of them over Williams.

Allison Williams looks more like Wonder Woman to me.

@SiMan, totally agree on this, they should open the film with the FF already established with the odd reference to their origin or quick re-cap of how they became empowered. When you think about it, Thor didn't have an origin, he was already Thor when we were introduced to him and that worked perfectly fine.
