The sitcom in which he’s one of the shining lights (that’s Arrested Development, in case you skipped the subhead) may be stuck in TV land limbo, but Will Arnett isn’t letting his film career go the same way.

Hard at work on skating comedy Blades Of Glory with Will Ferrell and Jon “Don’t call me Napoleon Dynamite” Heder, he’s pitched a script to Paramount/DreamWorks (ParaWorks? Dream-Mount? We think the second one’s funnier) about a badly behaved US ambassador.

Called The Ambassador, it will star Arnett as a former US Vice President’s son who has become used to the easy, privileged life. Presumably to try and teach him some hard knock lessons, he’s assigned to represent the US in Europe. You’ve guessed it - comedy hijinks ensue.

Michael Schur, an old-school Saturday Night Live scribe currently bringing the funny to the US version of The Office, will write the script.

And Arnett will be popping up in several films hitting our screens this year. Besides Blades, he’s also worked on Robin Williams comedy RV, and madcap caper Let’s Go To Prison. Plus, if you have children, chances are you heard his voice this weekend, as his tonsils gave life to a tiny role of a vulture in Ice Age 2.
