Will Ferrell has offered an update on the topic of Anchorman 2, the long-in-demand sequel to his hit 2004 comedy.
In the original film, Ferrell played news reader Ron Burgundy, who gets himself into all sorts of scrapes. And has an awesome moustache. The stellar cast included Steve Carell, Paul Rudd and Christina Applegate.
For years now, fans have been clamouring for a follow-up, and it seems Ferrell’s still desperate to give them one. But his hands are tied by Paramount.
“It's a little peculiar,” he tells Entertainment Weekly. “On the one hand, [we were] being begged to do a sequel for such a long time, and then we finally came up with a concept that we liked, we talked to [Paramount] and everyone was up for it.
“And then to get the reaction we got, yeah, it's slightly puzzling to us. But you know what? It's also their money. They get to do or not do whatever they want. So we'll see.”
Having his last say on the matter, Ferrell concluded: "We're still going back and forth. Maybe there is a solution. Or, I know in talking to Adam [McKay], if it never happens, then it never happens. And that's fine too. So we'll just see.”

Studios confuse me. Why stall on a sequel like this that has been long awaited? Yet they are prepared to make several sequels to rubbish like Big Momma's House.

Agreed.. I'd be up for another Burgundy Smooth Adventure... just so long as they make it as good as the first one... no point in 2 star follow up

Don't do it ! Leave Anchorman as a sole comedy gem.

It's been too long. The longer these things take, the worse they are. I'm no Ferrell fan, but Anchorman was a perfect storm of cast and loose-script and they'll be hard pushed to capture that again.
