Will Smith back in the frame for Independence Day 2

Roland Emmerich reveals star is "back in talks"

Roland Emmerich has been discussing forthcoming disaster sequel Independence Day 2, and has revealed that Will Smith may be involved in proceedings after all.

Emmerich had previously asserted that the sequel would be moving forward without Smith, but confirmed to Digital Spy that the actor is in fact back in talks.

"I sometimes say no, Will Smith will not be in it because he didn't want to do it at first," says Emmerich. "Now we have a meeting planned, we want to talk about it again. Anything can happen."

Should Smith decide to reboard the franchise, he would join Bill Pullman and Jeff Goldblum, both of whom Emmerich has previously confirmed as being on board.

Having previously asserted his desire to "find more danger in my artistic projects", it remains to be seen whether Smith can be convinced, but if the offer is too good to refuse, don't be surprised to see him make an about turn...

Would you like to see Smith return for the sequel? Tell us, below!

There was more danger in MIB3 and After Earth than Django Unchained, eh Will?

spidi2411 brilliant! I have always wanted to see see a stargate sequel from Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich as it really is a timeless sci-fi masterpiece and way better than that godawful tv series! Stargate:Rebellion was a good sequel novel, maybe they could roll with that?

Will smith do not fit in django role. But id2 without him will not work. He was the much needed comic relief in the id1 with all the invasion tense situation
