Warner Brothers has nabbed the rights to the anime classic Robotech, a ‘toon series from the ‘80s in which Earth based huge robot warriors on technology salvaged from a crashed alien spaceship. They need the ‘bots to battle several waves of nasty extraterrestrial invaders, with two young pilots taking a central role in the struggle.

"We are very excited to bring Robotech to the big screen," Maguire blabbed to The Hollywood Reporter. "There is a rich mythology that will be a great foundation for a sophisticated, smart and entertaining film."
