William Hurt joins Ridley Scott’s Hood

He’ll play a historical figure in the pic

William Hurt has signed on to the cast of Ridley Scott’s as-yet-untitled Robin Hood film.

He’ll play William Marshall, the Earl of Pembroke, a real-life historical figure who was one of the most powerful men in Europe.

A champion jouster, he served under the Plantagenet kings and will end up meeting Hood (Russell Crowe) and his gang.

The gang in question includes Scott Grimes, Kevin Durand and Alan Doyle as the Merry Men, alongside Cate Blanchett’s Maid Marian.

Scott’s busy shooting the film, though chances are they might get Easter Monday off, since it’s a bank holiday.
