William Hurt travels The River Why
He’s joining the novel adaptation…

Matt Leutwyler’s busy notching up the actors to appear in the adaptation of David James Duncan’s novel The River Why.
It’s a coming-of-age tale that finds obsessed fisherman Gus (Zach Gilford) endlessly searching for an elusive rainbow trout which – metaphor alert! – stands in for his quest for self-knowledge.
Now William Hurt has joined the film as his father, while Amber Heard will play Gus’ love interest, a headstrong, tomboy fly-fisher.
The Hollywood Reporter is looking for its waders.
