Witchblade gets a director

Battlestar Galactica veteran takes on the comic book movie…

While the comic book series (and resulting TV series/TV movies) Witchblade always seemed to teeter on the brink of utter cheese, we’re pleased to report that the new movie version will get some quality in the directing chair.

Michael Rymer, a man whose name should be known to anyone who loves the re-incarnated Battlestar Galactica on TV, has signed to bring Witchblade to the big screen. It’ll tell the tale of Sara Pezzini, an NYPD detective who becomes the latest wearer of the titular artifact, a sentient supernatural gauntlet that grants her amazing powers. He's got form with supernatural ladies - his last flick was Queen Of The Damned.

Variety is putting its gloves on.
