Frank Darabont, Bill Condon and – yes- Ratner – considered...

We told you on Wednesday about Mark Romanek ditching his long-gestating remake of Universal horror The Wolf Man, with Benicio Del Toro starring.

Now The Hollywood Reporter reveals that the likes of James Mangold, Frank Darabont, Bill Condon and Joe Johnston have all graced the executive conference room in an attempt to get the job.

Oh, and confirming web whispers, Brett Ratner is also under serious consideration – primarily because of his patch job saving X3 after Bryan Singer skipped off to Super-land.

Say it with us: please let it be Darabont. Or Condon. Or Mangold. Or Johnston. Or, you know, Orson Welles. Even though he’s been dead for years.
