Wrath Of The Titans will be better than Clash

…says Sam Worthington

Clash of The Titans

Clash Of The Titans earned itself a bad rep this year thanks to its lacklustre 3D conversion and potholed story, but star Sam Worthington has promised that the sequel will be an improvement.

Talking with Moviefone this weekend, the Aussie native acknowledged that Clash had its shortcomings. But he fully intends to rectify those with sequel Wrath Of The Titans.

“I just think we can improve on it,” he says. “I think the first one, we kind of let down some people. And yeah, I totally agree. The only point of doing a sequel is either the audience demands it or you believe you can better the first one.

“What we’re setting out to do with this one — the writers and the director and myself — is improve.”

Worthington goes on to add that he thinks he “can act fucking better, to be honest…” Meanwhile, it seems he’s been trawling the net to find out just what went wrong in the eyes of moviegoers.

“[I'll] take all the notes from people that I have been reading about on the ‘net and give them a movie they fucking want,” he says. “This one I want to kind of try to satisfy a lot more people.”

Wrath indeed...

Believe the blather? Think Wrath can improve Clash? Hurl us some comments below...

To the people who have commented so far... I'm not a massive Worthington fan, I think he has potential which he has yet to fulfil, but I don't think he's bad either... But in this he's just stated he and the people behind the film are making a concerted effort to satisfy the demands of the fans, to take on board criticisms and act on them in order to create a better end product and you only react with hostility. Would you rather film makers completely ignore their audience, simply do whatever they want? For someone on millions of dollars a year, it takes a big man to admit they f****d up and are striving to improve and the reaction to that is this? In all honesty you should be fairly ashamed of yourselves. Imo, the film was a let down and there's massive improvements to be made, so good for Worthington at being able to acknowledge that, it shows a maturity rarely seen from a star who's risen at such speed! Good on him, looking (tentatively) forward to Wrath!

Do you also believe in gum drop trees? Don't think for one minute that a studio produced blockbuster gives two s**ts about what we think of the film. It's something they say to try and get some more cash from your pocket to go and watch some complete pile of a**e. If you want examples check out pretty much all the Alien sequels (excluding Aliens), the star wars prequels and many many more. This is something they normally save for the third movie though, as in, we know where we went wrong with the second movie and this one is going to be awesome... enter "Matrix Revolutions", "Pirates of the caribbean At Worlds End", Jurassic Park 3, and on and on and on. There's nothing wrong with Worthington but he does across as very aggressive (the constant swearing and the fact that he reacts to this kind of c**p) and I think that outside of a major effects movie people aren't really that interested in him. Wrath of the titans will no doubt be better than Clash but in the same way that Liebesman's Texas Chainsaw Massacre was better than Darkness Falls.

The aggression makes it seem genuine to me, not contrived. It's honest and self-deprecating. It's not a massive press statement, a small, barely publicised comment this far from the movie's release is never going to effect sales. He's just being earnest. It's just self-superior internet super-critics like yourselves who refuse to believe a star can be honest.

I like worthington but it annoys me after the film he says it was poor, before clash1 came out he was full of praise for it, totally misleading people, here we go again, clash2 is going to be better, i remember shia la beouf another actor i like telling us transformers 2 was gonna bigger and better even though it was a disasterous disappointment, then after T2 he say oh we dropped the ball etc. T3 will be brilliant. i know actors are contracted to promote a movie but at least be honest about it before we spend our money rather than mislead... i hope hes right about clash2....
