Ryan Reynolds has long been attached to star in an adaptation of Dark Horse comic R.I.P.D., but it’s been slow going for a while.
Now, though, he could finally have himself a co-star in the form of Hangover funnyguy Zach Galifianakis.
With Reynolds already signed to play Nick Cruz, a murdered cop who’s out for revenge, Galifianakis would take on the role of Roy Powell, a gunslinger who’s been dead for a couple of hundred years.
It’s a casting choice that smacks of awesome. Galifianakis hasn’t really had a chance to play anything like this before, and should bring his own inimitable dramatic and comedic qualities to the part.
Judging by the comic's images, he'd also get himself a natty hat. We like.
Red director Robert Schwentke has been hired to direct R.I.P.D., with 24 Frames reporting that the film should finally get shooting this summer – providing Reynolds’ packed schedule allows it.
Next up for Galifianakis is the release of Hangover 2, which opens later this year.
