Zack Snyder talks Justice League’s different Superman

“Justice League will be its own thing”

Zack Snyder paced the red carpet this week for the premiere of Sucker Punch, and he took the opportunity to clear up all the Justice League movie talk.

When asked how Warner Bros’ decision to move forward with a League movie affected his Superman, he responded:

“It doesn’t. Like what Chris Nolan is doing and what I’m  doing with Superman, what they’ll do with Justice League will be its own thing with its own Batman and own Superman.

“We’ll be over here with our movie and they kinda get to do it twice which is kinda cool.”

Is it cool? Or is it just confusing? Normally studios attempt to keep some sort of continuity when it comes to casting and cross-overs, but it seems the WB aren’t too fussed.

Which sort of smacks of a ‘we can’t be bothered’ attitude. Perhaps they’ve noted how much time and effort it’s taken Marvel to weave all of their properties together with Iron Man, Thor and Captain America all uniting in The Avengers.

But where Marvel’s endeavour is truly ground-breaking and exciting, the WB seem to be taking the easy route. Their hand may have been forced (does Christian Bale want to hang up the Bat-cape after Rises?), but it's still a crying shame.

Justice? Or thievery? What do you make of all the Justice League chatter? Is it going to be a disaster? Let us know below...

That's such a stupid idea, didn't Warner Bros learn their lesson from the previous Justice League that was being developed by George Miller. If they must insist and making a JL movie at least include the current Superman.

The biggest problem you've got in any JL feature will be reconciling Batman and Superman who have profoundly different interpretations of 'justice'. Your standard Superman is most likely to view Batman as, if not a villain, then certainly a vigilante with scant regard for the law and due process; and is very unlikely to accept working with him. Then you've got the balance issue of how to present Batman as the equal of Supes and Green Lantern when he's essentially, just a guy in a bat suit. The only way they could manage it in cartoon form was to have Batman clearly be the brains of the outfit but in a live action format you run the risk of that just making Supes and GL look like costumed, power heavy morons. Good luck to them but I sure won't be holding my breath on it working well.

Wow I can't believe they're flipped again. There was a massively negative response to the whole idea of having a Superman and ~Batman around AND a totally different Superman and Batman in a JL movie; not least from Nolan & Bale. So when the writers' strike gave them a chance to scrap that idea, there was a clear indication that they were following Marvel's business plan with 'Green Laantern being their Iron Man. But now it seems they can't be bothered going the long route and are making a stand alone JL movie, in the hope that thy can have one set of heroes in movies every 2 - 3 years AND have a titally different Superman, Batman and Green Lantern in their own movies. It just makes no sense. Marvel's idea is risky but does anyone think it would be a good idea for next year's Avengers movie to have different actors playing Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, hulk & co, then go back to Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Samuel L Jackson & co in the Iron Man, Hulk Captain America etc sequels due out in 2013 - 2014. Let's have Idris Elba play Black Panther in The Avengers, but Djimon Honsou play the exact same character in a Black Panther movie 6 months, or 12 months later; then in Avengers 2, say 2014 Elba is back as Panther again? Madness.
