Zack Snyder always seems to be working on several things at once – he has Watchmen about to come out, is co-directing ‘toon adventure Guardians Of Ga’Hoole and is also hard at work on his next film, Sucker Punch.
Described by the direct as “Alice In Wonderland with machine guns,” Snyder has been confirming to the likes of Collider that it will be his next live-action release.
Now the canny types at IESB have heard rumours that Snyder has been talking to Mamma Mia star Amanda Seyfried about the lead role of a girl who retreats into fantasies that might help save her in the real world.
When asked about it, Snyder would only offer a non-committal “We're trying… She's great. She's cool. So we'll see.”
But he did say that he’s been talking to several actresses for the five main lead parts in the pic, which will feature a mostly female cast of arse-kickers.
Think 300, but with X chromosomes.
According to Snyder, it’ll be a serious 18-rated experience, full of the blood and guns he seems to crave in his films (though probably not in Ga’Hoole, since it’s for, you know, kids.)
“Damon, who’s my stunt choreographer and I, we're really trying, I've been drawing each shot, we're just trying to make these action sequences just out of this - just off the frickin’ scale.
“Cause I really feel like I've never really had the opportunity to make an action movie. I mean 300 is action-y but not like I could be, with no rules and machine guns and just everything. I feel like there's huge potential there that I haven't really gotten to explore, so that's kind of what I am excited about.”
He’s busily casting now, so we’ll keep you updated with who gets the prime roles and will need to start weapons training.
The film is slated to start shooting in Canada this autumn, with a likely March 2011 release date.
So... more Snyder madness - up for it? Let us know. And tell us who you'd cast...
