Oblivion review

Film description

In Oblivion, Tom Cruise stars as Jack Harper, one of the last few drone repairmen on Earth in 2073 following an alien invasion nearly leading to Earth’s destruction. His life changes forever when he rescues a beautiful stranger, triggering a chain of events that forces him to question everything he knows and puts the fate of humanity in his hands.

Morgan Freeman, Olga Kurylenko, Melissa Leo and Andrea Riseborough co-star in what is set to be one of the biggest sci-fi films of 2013. Universal have claimed the script to be one of “the most beautiful” they’ve ever come across so it promises to be worth the watch.

Tron: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski helms the project as he delves back into familiar sci-fi territory. With support from Oscar-winning crew, including cinematographer Claudio Miranda (Life of Pi) and writers Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3, Star Wars VII) and Bill Monahan (The Departed), there are high hopes this won’t divide opinion as much as Prometheus. Oblivion opens in the UK on 10 April 2013.
