Orlando3

Freely adapting Virginia Woolf's 1928 novel, writer/director Sally Potter rustles up a lavish, if emotionally unengaging, postmodern historical fantasy. Cantering through some 400 years of British history, it features the mesmerising Tilda Swinton as the seemingly immortal Orlando, who passes from being male to female in her quest to find love and liberation. A wry, sly adap that casts a quizzical eye over accepted notions of gender, class and history.
