
Haven't we all, at some stage, at least made some small attempt to escape French justice? Steve McQueen has, and if it's good enough for him, it'll do for us all. The eponymous hero is a petty thief framed for murder, then thrown in le slammer forever and ever. He's not really up for this, and the strains of solitary confinement don't curb his escapist tendencies, what with him being of steely determinism and robust character. Meaning he's sent to the inescapable Devil's Island...
