George Clooney was born on 6 May, 1961 in Lexington, Kentucky, USA.
He spent much of the ‘80s appearing in television shows, most notablyRoseanne, and in 1994 joined the cast of ER, playing Dr Doug Ross in 107 episodes.
Dr Ross was so iconic for Clooney that some critics were concerned he would never escape the role and make the leap to the big screen.
Those fears were blown away by his performance as Seth Gecko in Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez’s collaboration From Dusk Till Dawn.
Since then, Clooney has worked with several well-respected film directors, including Terrence Malick onThe Thin Red Line, David O Russell on Three Kingsand the Coen Brothers on O Brother, Where Art Thou?and Intolerable Cruelty.
He also played Danny Ocean in Steven Soderbergh's Ocean’s Eleven, Ocean’s Twelve, and Ocean’s Thirteen.
George Clooney has also had recent success as a director, with each of his films –Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind, Good Night And Good Luck, LeatherheadsandThe Ides Of March – being well received by critics.
