Gwyneth Paltrow was born on 27 September, 1972 in Los Angeles, California, USA.

Paltrow is probably best known to general audiences as Pepper Potts in the Iron Man films – a character that also appeared in Joss Whedon's blockbusting Avengers Assemble.

Paltrow's breakthrough came in the '90s, via a series of high profile roles.

They include, Emma, Sliding Doors, The Talented Mr Ripley, and David Fincher’s 1995 crime thriller, Se7en, in which she appeared opposite Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman.

At the 71st Academy Awards, Paltrow won the Oscar for Best Actress for her role in Shakespeare In Love.
