As a participant in the ‘swinging ’60s’, Peter Whitehead documented some of its biggest events. This double-disc set presents two of them. Wholly Communion records the International Poetry Incarnation in 1965, where 7,000 packed the Albert Hall to hear counter-culture poets. Benefit Of The Doubt preserves the RSC’s 1966 production of Vietnam play, US. The second disc adds a recent interview with Whitehead. The attitudes may have dated – embarrassingly in some cases – but this is an invaluable document.
