Pitch Perfect review

Film description

Pitch Perfect mixes a little Mean Girls, a dash of Bring It On and more than a healthy dose of Bridemaids (and, alright, probably a hint of High School Musical).

It’s equipped with a stellar cast that includes Anna Kendrick, Bridesmaids breakout Rebel Wilson and Superbad’s very own McLovin’ Christopher Mintz-Plasse.

They all show us what they’ve got in the pipes stakes, singing out as college students in the midst of a fearsome tune-off.

We first heard about the film in September 2011 when we reported that Anna Kendrick would be taking on the lead role.

Based on the book of the same name by Mickey Rapkin, Pitch Perfect was inspired by the real-life a cappella competitions between college students in the US.

The film’s trailer emerged in June 2012 and impressed with its lively musical numbers and on-the-nose jokes.

Pitch Perfect takes to the stage (well, screen) on 19 October 2012. Will you be watching? Tell us below.

Who would have thought that a lesser known Twilight star would become the main actor for a movie like this! She was great, but I think the most memorable person for me was Rebel Wilson, who played Fat Amy. The reasoning why she calls herself that is hilarious. One of my DISH coworkers said that I should see it just for Fat Amy. I didn’t know what the big deal was, but I love the movie now. I got it a few days later after adding it to my queue on Blockbuster @Home. It is nice knowing that I was able to see it weeks before Redbox where it isn’t even available yet.
