
Almost as mixed up as the performers at the Gas Station comedy club, this tears-of-a-clown melodrama just can't get its act together. Tom Hanks is the ambitious stand-up star, but he's broke, neurotic and nowhere near the promised land of Network Television. And then there's Sally Field as a New Jersey housewife who dreams of "making people laugh" but finds her marriage under pressure when straitlaced hubby (John Goodman) fails to see the funny side.
