Dustin Hoffman makes his directorial debut with comedy Quartet, which is based on the play by Ronald Harwood.
Quartet is about a group of retired opera singers - Cecily (Pauline Collins), Wilfred (Billy Connolly) and Reggie (Tom Courtenay) - who perform a concert on 10 October every year to celebrate Verdi’s birthday.
But trouble soon arises when Reggie’s ex-wife, Jean (Maggie Smith), joins the quartet, which throws the show into chaos.
Having impressed on screen for decades, we’re excited to see what Hoffman will do behind the camera. Quartet will be showing at the 2012 London Film Festival, if you fancy catching it before its official release.
Quartet opens in the UK on 4 January 2013, and until then we’ll be updating this page with any related news and features, and, eventually, our review.
