Plot-wise, Alex Cox's version of Thomas Middleton's Jacobean tragi-comedy is fairly faithful: Christopher Eccleston plays a wild-eyed stranger who arrives in town seeking to extract revenge from Derek Jacobi's ruling dynasty, who were responsible for his wife's death.
